Generative AI Policy
This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and the Editorial Team of DINASIF. Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (“AI tools”) include ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and similar tools.
For Authors
1. Permitted Use
AI tools may be used to support manuscript preparation, for example to:
- assist in searching and summarizing literature and identifying research gaps;
- assist in structuring and organizing the manuscript’s content;
- improve the language, clarity, and readability of text written by the authors;
- check the manuscript’s completeness against the DINASIF author guidelines.
2. Prohibited Use
- generating sections of the manuscript without genuine intellectual contribution from the authors;
- fabricating, altering, or manipulating research data and results;
- creating or altering references, including citing fictitious AI-generated references;
- paraphrasing others’ work to evade plagiarism detection.
3. Author Responsibilities
Authors are fully responsible for the entire content of their manuscript, including:
- reviewing and verifying the accuracy, completeness, and impartiality of all AI output, including ensuring that every reference exists and is correct;
- editing all AI output so that the manuscript reflects the authors’ own analysis, interpretation, and ideas;
- ensuring that the AI tools used do not compromise data confidentiality, particularly personal data of research participants such as survey respondents or usability test participants, and do not use the authors’ manuscript or data to train AI models.
4. Authorship
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, nor cited as the author of a source. Authorship entails responsibilities that can only be carried out by humans, as described on the Authorship Criteria page.
5. AI Declaration
Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in manuscript preparation in a separate section before the References, written in the same language as the manuscript. This statement will remain in the published article. The recommended format is:
Pernyataan Penggunaan Generative AI
Declaration of Generative AI Use
During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] in order to [PURPOSE]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.
Additional provisions
- Basic checks of spelling, grammar, and punctuation do not need to be disclosed. However, if an AI tool makes substantive changes to sentence structure or the organization of any part of the text, this must be disclosed.
- Where AI tools are used as part of the research methods, for example for sentiment analysis, text classification, code generation, or data processing, their use must be described in detail in the Methods section, including the name of the model or tool, its version, and its developer, so that the research can be replicated.
6. Images and Figures
| Type | Rule |
|---|---|
| Explanatory images flowcharts, conceptual frameworks, architecture diagrams, research workflows |
AI tools may be used to assist in their creation. Their use must be disclosed in the figure caption, including the tool name and version, and in the Declaration of Generative AI Use. |
| Data visualizations charts, bar graphs, heatmaps |
AI tools may only be used when the visualization is generated directly from the research data through reproducible methods described in the Methods section. |
| Research result images screenshots of developed systems or applications, usability test results, interaction recordings, evaluated interface designs |
Must not be created or altered using AI tools if they were not actually obtained in the research. |
| User interface (UI/UX) designs | Designs created with the assistance of AI as part of the research are permitted, provided that the use of the AI tool is described in the Methods section, including the tool name, version, and the role of AI in the design process. |
| Copyright and identity | AI tools must not be used to generate images that resemble copyrighted works, real people, or identifiable brands or products of others. |
For Reviewers
- use AI tools in the peer review process, including to read, summarize, evaluate, or write review reports;
- upload a manuscript, in whole or in part, into any AI application or tool.
- Manuscripts under review are confidential. Uploading them to AI tools may violate the authors’ confidentiality and rights and the protection of personal data.
- The scholarly assessment of a manuscript is entirely the reviewer’s responsibility and must reflect the reviewer’s own judgement.
- Basic spelling and grammar checks of the review report, such as the spell-check feature of a word processor, are not covered by this prohibition.
For the Editorial Team
- The Editorial Team must not upload a manuscript, in whole or in part, into any AI application or tool.
- Editorial decisions are made by humans. The assessment of manuscripts, selection of reviewers, and acceptance or rejection decisions are entirely the responsibility of the editors and must not be delegated to AI tools.
- The Editorial Team may only use AI tools for administrative support that does not involve manuscript content, such as improving the language of decision letters or announcements.
- Any use of AI by the Editorial Team must be disclosed on this page. Currently, the DINASIF Editorial Team does not use AI tools in the editorial process.
- Plagiarism checking is part of the standard procedure described on the Plagiarism Policy page.
Responsibility
Responsibility for manuscript content remains with the authors, and responsibility for the editorial process and decisions remains with the Editorial Team, regardless of any use of AI tools.
Violations
Undisclosed AI use or use that violates this policy will be handled in accordance with the Research Misconduct page.
This policy will be updated periodically in line with developments in technology and scholarly publishing standards.
