Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
DINASIF (Delta Informatika dan Sistem Informasi) publishes scholarly work in informatics and information systems in line with the journal’s Focus and Scope. Authors must follow these guidelines, the latest DINASIF Manuscript Template, and all DINASIF editorial policies.
Manuscript Types
DINASIF accepts:
- Research Articles;
- Case Studies;
- Literature Reviews, including Systematic Literature Reviews; and
- Conceptual Papers.
A description of each type is available on the Manuscript Types page. Manuscripts must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or publisher.
Submission and Authorship
Manuscripts are submitted through the DINASIF OJS system. Authors experiencing technical difficulties may contact the editorial office via the journal email.
All listed authors must have made a genuine scholarly contribution and meet the criteria on the Authorship Criteria page. Each author’s contribution is reported using CRediT roles. The author list and order must be agreed upon before submission.
The corresponding author must be clearly marked and serves as the main point of contact with the editorial office throughout submission, review, revision, production, and publication. Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission are evaluated by the editors and must be made using the Author Change Form.
Language, Length, and Format
Manuscripts are written in Indonesian, with a recommended length of 10–16 pages. Manuscripts must be prepared using the DINASIF Manuscript Template with the following general provisions:
- A4 paper with 3–3–2–2 cm margins (left–top–right–bottom, mirror margins);
- main text in Times New Roman 12 pt, single-spaced;
- title in capital letters, Times New Roman 14 pt, bold, centered;
- title written in both Indonesian and English, concise, reflecting the content, and preferably without subtitles or case study names;
- authors’ full names without academic titles, with affiliations and email addresses;
- corresponding author marked with an asterisk (*);
- foreign terms not yet standardized in Indonesian written in italics.
Other technical provisions, such as headings, section spacing, and layout, follow the latest template.
Abstract and Keywords
The abstract is written in both Indonesian and English, each 150–250 words, in a single paragraph. It concisely presents:
- the research background or problem;
- the research objective;
- the methods;
- the main results or findings; and
- the conclusion.
Provide 3–6 keywords in both Indonesian and English, written in lowercase except for abbreviations and separated by commas.
Manuscript Structure
Research articles are generally organized in the following order:
- Title
- Author Names and Affiliations
- Abstract and Keywords
- Introduction
- Research Methods
- System Design (optional)
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgements (if any)
- Author Contributions
- Conflict of Interest Statement
- Declaration of Generative AI Use
- References
The System Design section is used for design and development research. Literature reviews follow a structure suited to the review method used. Systematic Literature Reviews must describe the search strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria, source selection process, data extraction, and synthesis technique. Conceptual papers follow a structure suited to their line of argument.
Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion
Introduction
The introduction presents the background, relevant prior research (state of the art), the research gap, and the novelty or contribution of the study. It ends with a clear statement of the research objectives or questions. Avoid general definitions and textbook-style theoretical descriptions.
Research Methods
The methods must be described in sufficient detail to be understood, evaluated, and replicated. Where relevant, this section includes:
- research design and stages;
- research object, location, or context;
- data sources or participants, and the sampling technique;
- data collection techniques and research instruments;
- instrument validity and reliability testing;
- system development method (for design and development research);
- data analysis techniques; and
- software, algorithms, or tools used.
Widely used methods may be described briefly with appropriate references. Research ethics considerations are reported in this section in accordance with Section 9.
Results and Discussion
Results and Discussion are presented as one integrated section. Results present the main findings directly related to the research objectives, supported by relevant tables, figures, test results, or analyses, not merely raw data or screenshots without explanation.
The discussion answers the research questions by:
- interpreting the meaning of the findings;
- comparing the findings with theory and previous research;
- explaining similarities, differences, or unexpected findings; and
- explaining the scholarly contribution and practical implications of the study.
Limitations of the study are described proportionately. This section should explain what was found, why it occurred, and what it implies for informatics and information systems.
Conclusion
The conclusion is written in paragraph form, concisely and directly addressing the research objectives. It does not repeat the abstract or discussion, but emphasizes the main findings and contributions. Directions for future research may be stated briefly.
Figures, Tables, Equations, Source Code, and Technical Format
- All figures, tables, equations, and source code must be relevant, numbered sequentially, and referred to in the text (e.g., “Table 1” or “Figure 2”).
- Figures: captions are placed below the figure, centered, 11 pt. Figures must be clear, of adequate resolution, and distinguishable when printed in black and white. Graphs use different line types and markers for each data series.
- Tables: captions are placed above the table, centered, 11 pt, without vertical lines. Tables must not exceed the page margins.
- Equations: written using an equation editor or MathType, numbered in parentheses on the right, with every symbol defined.
- Source code: written in a two-column table (line numbers and code), in Courier New 11 pt, with the caption below the table.
- Abbreviations are defined at first use, except for common ones.
- Footnotes are not used.
Acknowledgements, Author Contributions, and Declarations
Acknowledgements are optional but required if the research received funding, stating the funder and the grant or contract number. Contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in this section.
Every manuscript must include:
- Author Contributions, using CRediT roles as described on the Authorship Criteria page;
- Conflict of Interest Statement, as described on the Conflicts of Interest page; and
- Declaration of Generative AI Use, as described on the Generative AI Policy page.
Declarations must accurately reflect the actual conditions of the research and follow the format in the template.
Research Ethics, Privacy, and Identifiable Material
Research involving human participants, such as surveys, interviews, usability testing, or observation, or using organizational or personal data, must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations. Where relevant, authors report in the Methods section:
- permission from the organization, agency, or institution where the research was conducted;
- participants’ informed consent and voluntary participation;
- consent from parents or guardians for underage participants; and
- ethics committee approval and its number, where required by the institution.
Personal data, photographs, recordings, screenshots, documents, or other material that could identify a person or organization must be protected. Where identification is not necessary for scholarly purposes, such material must be anonymized, for example by blurring faces, masking names, emails, or ID numbers, or cropping images, without altering its scholarly meaning. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish identifiable material.
AI and Assistive Technologies
If generative AI or AI-assisted technologies are used in the research or in manuscript preparation, authors must disclose the name of each tool and its function. All AI output, including facts, data, interpretations, quotations, and references, must be checked and verified by the authors.
AI cannot be listed as an author, and authors remain fully responsible for the entire content of the manuscript. The use of AI must not result in fabricated data, fictitious references, plagiarism, or undisclosed manipulation. Full provisions are available on the Generative AI Policy page.
References
- References must be relevant, accurate, traceable, and drawn from legitimate scholarly sources, prioritizing publications from the last 5 years, with a minimum of 20 references.
- At least 80% of references must be primary sources, namely reputable journal articles and conference proceedings. Books, research reports, and undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral theses must not exceed 20%.
- Older references may be used for foundational theories, methods, or well-established instruments.
- Citations and references follow the Harvard-Anglia style, listed alphabetically without numbering.
- Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.
- Include the DOI or a persistent link where available.
- Every source cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
