MEMBERDAYAKAN PEMUDA MELALUI PENELITIAN TINDAKAN PARTISIPATIF DAN ETIKA MEDIA SOSIAL: INISIATIF PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT

Abstract

This article presents the findings of a community service project conducted in Mranggen, a sub-district of Magetan Residence, East Java, Indonesia, using Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology. The project aimed to empower the youth community in Mranggen, aged 19 to 27, by involving them in identifying and addressing local issues. The youth, a dynamic and diverse group, face challenges such as limited access to education, economic difficulties, and a lack of robust social networks. Through PAR, participants were encouraged to take an active role in understanding their community's needs, brainstorming solutions, and developing action plans for local challenges. The project had a transformative impact on the youth participants. Behaviorally, they exhibited increased confidence, taking on more proactive roles and demonstrating leadership throughout the activities. Socially, the project fostered stronger community cohesion, helping youth from different backgrounds connect and collaborate. Cognitively, participants enhanced their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which empowered them to approach challenges with a more analytical mindset. Despite logistical challenges and initial participant hesitation, the project successfully cultivated a sense of ownership, self-efficacy, and empowerment among the youth. The article concludes with recommendations for future community service efforts, emphasizing the importance of tailored leadership programs, youth-led initiatives, and broader community involvement. These efforts are crucial for sustaining the positive impact of the project and fostering the continued development of youth in rural communities like Mranggen.
