PEMBERDAYAAN KARANG TARUNA MELALUI LITERASI DIGITAL UNTUK MENCEGAH HOAKS DAN PENYALAHGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL
Abstract
The digital literacy empowerment program for the Mranggen Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) was implemented in response to the increasing use of social media among adolescents and the risk of spreading hoaxes, which impact local social dynamics. This activity was designed to improve information analysis skills, understanding of digital ethics, and content verification skills through outreach, interactive training, and hands-on practice. The program targeted 15 high school-aged Karang Taruna members who were vulnerable to misinformation but had great potential as agents of change in their communities. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in participants' ability to distinguish between true and false information, indicated by an increase in comprehension scores and a change in attitudes toward using social media more critically and responsibly. Furthermore, participants began producing positive content as a form of social contribution. This program offers a community-based digital literacy model that is adaptive to rural contexts and can be replicated in similar areas.
