Integrasi Game Digital dalam Pembelajaran PPKn sebagai Upaya Penguatan Kesadaran Ekologis dan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan
Abstract
The development of digital technology has made digital games an integral part of the lives of students (digital natives) and opened up opportunities for their use as a more interactive learning medium. This study aims to describe the perceptions, experiences, and attitudes of eighth-grade junior high school students toward the integration of digital games in Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) learning as an effort to strengthen ecological awareness and sustainable development. The research used a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The respondents consisted of 98 eighth-grade junior high school students in Malang City who were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended 4-point Likert scale questionnaire covering four variables: interest in digital games, game-based learning experiences, perceptions of the effectiveness of games as a medium for PPKn learning, and willingness to use educational games in the future. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The results of the study show that students' interest in digital games is very high (85.4%), their experience of game-based learning is high (78.3%), their perception of the effectiveness of games as a medium for civic education is very high (82.6%), and their willingness to use educational games in the future is very high (87.6%). These findings indicate that the integration of digital games has strong potential to support more meaningful civic education learning while encouraging the internalization of ecological citizenship values through environmental issue simulations and contextual decision-making. However, implementation in schools still faces obstacles in the form of low digital literacy among teachers, limited infrastructure, and a lack of educational games with environmental themes. This study recommends strengthening teacher training, school policy support, infrastructure provision, and the development of locally contextual game content so that the integration of digital games in Civics Education can be effective and sustainable.
