COMPARATIVE STUDY OF STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES IN THE INDONESIAN LANGUAGE SUBJECT BASED ON GENDER
Abstract
Gender inequality in the learning of the Indonesian language can lead to unfair access to academic achievement and further educational opportunities among students. Learning Indonesian plays an important role in the development of students’ academic literacy, problem solving ability, and communication skills. The aim of this research is to compare students learning outcomes in the Indonesian language based on gender. The data analysis in this research used an independent sample t-test. Before it, a normality test (Shapiro Wilk Test) and homogeneity test (Levene's Test) were first carried out. The results of the Shapiro Wilk Test indicated that the data were normally distributed, while Levene’s Test showed that the data came from homogeneous groups, with a significance value of 0,351 > 0,05. In average, score of female students (90,47) is higher than male students (85,69), with a difference of 4,78 points. The independent samples t-test revealed a significance value Sig. 2-tailed of 0,000 < 0,05, so it can be concluded statistically that there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes in the Indonesian language based on gender. This disparity may serve as an important indication that warrants further investigation to prevent gender inequality in educational access and achievement
